| Consultants |  | Dr. Gerald Brock | Professor | St. Josephs | |  | BIO: Dr. Gerald Brock is a Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Urology, at St. Joseph's Health Centre in London, Ontario. Dr. Brock is the Program Director for the Urology Residency Training Program at The University of Western Ontario. Dr. Brock is currently the chair for the adminsitrative council of the CUASF, treasurer of the Canadian Urology research Consortium and serves on the executive of the North Eastern section of the AUA. Dr. Brock is the previous Chair of the Canadian Male Sexual Health Council (affiliate of the Canadian Urology Association - CUA), as well as the past chair of the Guidelines Committees of the CUA. Dr. Brock is the author of over 100 publications, 20 book chapters, numerous abstracts and more than 20 research awards from national and international research organizations. Over the past decade he has been invited to speak across Canada, the USA, Europe and Asia. Dr. Brock's work in urology and erectile dysfunction is acknowledged by his role as a contributor to the Editorial Board of the Chronicle of Medicine and Sexual Health, Andrology, Canadian Journal of Urology and as an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Physiology, Journal of Urology, Urology, and the International Journal of Impotence Research.
An active andrology fellowship combining basic animal physiology with clinical exposure ranging from 1-2 years is available to graduates of urology programs in North America and elsewhere.

|  | Dr. Joseph Chin | Professor | Victoria Hospital | |  | BIO: Dr. Chin graduated from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine and completed his Urology training at the University of Western Ontario in 1983, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada that year. He completed a Uro-oncology Fellowship at Roswell Park Memorial Institute and a Renal Transplantation Fellowship at the University of Western Ontario before joining the faculty at Western. He had been Professor & Chair of the Division of Urology at the University of Western Ontario for 12 years and is now Professor & Chair of the Division of Surgical Oncology and Head of the Provincial Surgical Oncology Program for the Southwestern Ontario Region. His clinical practice at London Health Sciences Centre (Victoria Hospital) is concentrated in Urologic Oncology. Dr. Chin has received many research grants from international and national granting agencies. His laboratory and clinical research interests are in prostate cancer management, including minimally invasive and alternative forms of management. He has been a Canadian pioneer in such procedures as robotic assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy and cryosurgery for prostate cancer. Dr. Chin has published well over 150 research papers and book chapters, mostly in the area of uro-oncology.

|  | Dr. John Denstedt | Professor | St. Josephs | |  | BIO: Dr. John Denstedt graduated from medical school at The University of Western Ontario in 1982. He did his residency in Urology at Western between 1983 and 1987 and then completed a fellowship in Endourology under Dr. Ralph Clayman at Washington University in St. Louis. He has been on the faculty in the Division of Urology, Department of Surgery at The University of Western Ontario since 1990 and is currently Professor of Urology at Western. In July 2003 he assumed the role of Chairman of the Department of Surgery at The University of Western Ontario.
He is the author of over 200 scientific articles and book chapters. He has been guest professor at over 200 universities, national meetings or instructional courses throughout the world. In 1997 he received the Gold Cystoscope Award from the American Urological Association and is the only Canadian to have won this award that is one of the highest honours in the American Urological Association. He is a member of many national and international organizations and serves on the editorial board of most major urology journals.
His clinical practice at St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Care London is primarily in endourology with research interests in urolithiasis, biofilms, lasers and minimally invasive techniques in urology.

|  | Dr. Hassan Razvi | Professor | St. Josephs | |  | BIO: Dr. Hassan Razvi graduated from the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine in 1988. After a one year rotating internship in Akron, Ohio, he then went on to complete Urology residency training at The University of Western Ontario (UWO). Fellowship training then followed in Endourology at UWO and Prostate Disorders at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Centre in New York City. He joined the faculty at UWO in 1995. During his career, Dr. Razvi has held a number of leadership positions locally and nationally, including Urology Residency Program Director, President of the Medical Staff Organization and Chairman of the Canadian Urological Association Research Scholarship Foundation.
Dr. Razvi is currently Professor and Chair of the Division of Urology at The University of Western Ontario and Chief of Urology at St. Joseph's Health Care London and the London Health Sciences Centre. He is also treasurer of the Northeastern Section of the American Urological Association and Chairman of the Guidelines Committee of the Canadian Urological Association.
He is the author of over 85 scientific papers and 9 book chapters. He has been guest professor at over 100 universities, national meetings or instructional courses throughout the world and is a member of many national and international associations.
His clinical and research interests include alternative medical and surgical treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia, metabolic and surgical aspects of urinary stone disease and prostate cancer.

|  | Dr. Jonathan Izawa | Associate Professor | Victoria Hospital | |  | BIO: Dr. Jonathan Izawa graduated from the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Medicine in 1994 and subsequently completed his Urology Residency at the University of Western Ontario. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1999. He completed a basic science research and clinical fellowship as a McLaughlin Fellow in Urologic Oncology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in 2001. Dr. Izawa is now an Associate Professor of Surgery and Oncology in the Divisions of Surgical Oncology and Urology at the University of Western Ontario. His clinical practice primarily involves the management of urologic malignancies. He is also involved in research on bladder, prostate and kidney cancer. Dr. Izawa is an Associate Scientist at the Lawson Health Research Institute.

|  | Dr. Patrick Luke | Associate Professor | University Hospital | |  | BIO: Dr. Patrick Luke graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine in 1993 and subsequently completed his Urology training at the University of Western Ontario. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1998, and completed a clinical fellowship in transplantation at the University of Pittsburgh and research fellowships at the University of Pittsburgh and Western Ontario. He is the surgical director of kidney/pancreas transplantation at the University of Western Ontario. His clinical practice focuses on renal/pancreas transplantation as well as minimally-invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery. His research interests include basic and translational laboratory studies in immunology as it pertains to transplantation and organ failure. As well, he has preclinical and clinical interests in telementoring and telesurgery.
Currently, the Multi-organ Transplant Program at London Health Sciences Centre offers a one year ASTS-certified renal transplantation fellowship that provides training in organ procurement (laparoscopy), surgical transplantation, and immunosuppression. A second year in the laboratory is encouraged and available.

|  | Dr. Sumit Dave | Assistant Professor | Victoria Hospital | | BIO: Dr Sumit Dave is a medical graduate from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research, Pondicherry, India. After completing Pediatric Surgery residency from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi he moved on to Sydney, Australia. There he worked as a Pediatric General Surgery fellow at the Sydney Childrens Hospital, University of New South Wales. A strong desire to pursue a career in Pediatric Urology led to another transcontinental move for a two year Pediatric Urology fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto. The academic excellence of the Department of Surgery and the Division of Urology at the University of Western Ontario attracted him to his present position as a pediatric urologist in the Division of Urology at London Health Sciences.
Dr Dave has several contributions to the pediatric urology literature in numerous peer-reviewed journals. His primary areas of research interest include neurogenic bladder, vesicoureteric reflux and minimally invasive reconstructive pediatric urology. He is currently undertaking a Master’s in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Western Ontario. He has a four- year old daughter and an ophthalmologist wife.

|  | Dr. Stephen Pautler | Assistant Professor | St. Josephs | |  | BIO: Dr. Stephen Pautler attended the University of Waterloo and completed a Honours, Co-operative Chemistry degree. Dr. Pautler graduated from the University of Calgary medical school in 1995 and subsequently completed the urology residency at The University of Western Ontario. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2000. Dr. Pautler spent two years at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland performing both clinical and basic science research in minimally invasive interventions for urologic cancers, before joining the staff at St. Joseph's Hospital (St. Joseph's Health Care, London) as an Assistant Professor with The University of Western Ontario, Department of Surgery in July 2002. Dr. Pautler was cross-appointed to the Department of Oncology in 2005. He has co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles, several chapters and has presented at numerous international urology meetings. His current interests include surgical robotics and urologic laparoscopy with the application of minimally-invasive surgical techniques and image-guided ablative procedures for urologic cancers. Dr. Pautler is the co-director of the Endourology fellowship program and participates in the Society of Urologic Oncology fellowship program at Western.

|  | Dr. Alp Sener | Assistant Professor | University Hospital | |  | | Area of interest: Urology | BIO: Dr. Alp Sener earned his Biology degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994. Upon concluding his undergraduate studies, he obtained his PhD in renal physiology in 1999, followed by his MD in 2002 from the University of Calgary. Subsequently, Dr. Sener completed his Urology residency at the University of Western Ontario and became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2007. Dr. Sener spent two years at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore as the American Society of Transplant Surgeons/Novartis Fellow in Transplantation. While in Maryland, he was trained in kidney and pancreas transplantation by pioneers in the field and completed a research fellowship in transplant immunology. Dr. Sener joined the Division of Urology in 2009 as an Assistant Professor of Surgery and has been appointed as a Schulich Clinician Scientist by the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Sener has been the recipient of several national and international awards, has co-authored more than 25 peer-reviewed articles and has presented at numerous international transplant and urology meetings.
In addition to a general urology and kidney/pancreas transplant directed clinical practice, Dr. Sener maintains a basic sciences and translational research laboratory focusing on CD4 T-cell mediated graft rejection and in developing methods of mitigating organ ischemia-reperfusion injury.

He is Program Leader for Advanced Surgical Technologies at the Lawson Health Research Institute, and Director of the Canadian Research and Development Centre for Probiotics. His research is primarily on the role of beneficial bacteria and probiotics on health in the urogenital tract in women. He collaborates with several members of the Urology Division and scientists in Canada and other countries. Dr. Reid has project on anti-infective, anti-inflammatory and anti-encrustation properties of probiotic bacteria ongoing, from in vitro studies to clinical trials in several national and international centres. He has published over 285 peer-reviewed papers, mostly on probiotics and urinary tract infections. He holds 28 patents and has presented over 350 seminars in 36 countries. He has been Chair of the United Nations/World Health Organization Expert Consultation and Working Group, and has been a reviewer for 66 journals and 28 agencies (including NIH, CIHR, Kidney Foundation and others in Ireland, Czech Republic, Holland, New Zealand, USA etc).

|  | Dr. Jim Xuan | Associate Professor | Victoria Hospital | | BIO: Jim W. Xuan, Ph. D. is an Associate Professor with the Division of Urology and Director of the Urologic Oncology Research Laboratory at LHSC. Dr. Xuan obtained his Masters of Science Degree in 1982 in Shanghai, China and his Ph.D. Degree in 1988 in Paris, France. He has been a faculty member in the Division of Urology since 1994. Dr. Xuan's current research interests include transgenic and knock-out mouse prostate cancer models and their applications to prostate cancer research. In the past few years, our laboratory has studied extensively the genetic and biologic properties and potential clinical applications of PSP 94, (Prostate secretory protein of 94 amino acids) - one of the proteins abundantly secreted by the prostate. Current projects include a genetically-engineered prostate cancer molecular imaging using a new 3-dimensional ultrasound technology. Our research team led by Dr. Xuan has had continuous peer-reviewed funding for the past decade (including CIHR, NIH/NCI, other national research foundations as well as from industry). Dr. Xuan has acted as the academic advisor and supervisor for several M.Sc. students at U.W.O. as well as several postdoctoral and clinical research fellows from several countries.

|  | Dr. Peter Cadieux | Institute Scientist | St. Josephs | |  | BIO: Dr. Peter Cadieux is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at UWO. He is also a Research Scientist in the Department of Advanced Surgical Technologies at the Lawson Health Research Institute and St. Joseph’s Health Care London.
Dr. Cadieux is a London native and completed all of his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Western Ontario. He completed a Master’s of Science degree in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology with Dr. Michael Clarke and a PhD in the same department with Dr. Gregor Reid. He is currently completing a two year AUA Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellowship at UWO with Drs. John Denstedt and Bing Siang Gan involving the generation of an oxalate-degrading probiotic strain of Lactobacillus.
He has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles and his research interests include bacterial infections, encrustation and infection associated with urinary tract prostheses, probiotics and the etiology and prevention of urinary tract stones.
